ding (2011): “We have been unable to find any information whatsoever about this author. He was probably an informant of Mr. J. Drummond Robertson’s.  Mr. J. Drummond Robertson mentioned on introducing the poem: ‘I am indebted to Mr. Edward Barry in the Forest of Dean, for the following lines, written by him some years ago, ‘on the night when all the gas-lights went out suddenly in Micheldean’.’ (Robertson, J. Drummond: 1890: 205).”
