DING 2013: “From Ashbourne, poet and lawyer, little is known about him. He was a barrister and Justice of the Peace for Derbyshire in 1650. He held the office of Steward of the Barmote Courts of Wirksworth. Thomas Tapping’s edition of The Rhymed Chronicle (1851) containes a glossary of mining terms. Thomas Tapping (1817-1886) was a barrister who edited another treatise on Derbyshire mining customs as well as many books on legal matters.”
